Our Infant Program is specifically designed for children ages 8 weeks to 15 months old. During the earliest weeks of life, while the child is acclimating to life outside of the mother’s womb, we provide a warm, nurturing infant environment with just the right amount of stimulation of the senses to help the natural development of vision, hearing, and movement.
Our trained teachers work with each infant to develop motor skills: reaching, grasping and differentiating the different textures, shapes, and levels of firmness of various objects. Floor exercises develop core strength and mobility; reaching these milestones free the baby’s body for increased exploration of the environment as he learns to crawl, stand and walk.
Our infant environment is rich in language through the spoken word, finger plays, stories and songs. Children are able to replicate words with some mastery by 9 months and have acquired an extensive receptive vocabulary by the end of their first year.
The environment is designed with an abundance of sensory, emotional/social, and cognitive stimuli that assist the child’s natural development. The child learns to trust himself and the world as she grows from a passive observer into an active participant.
During this period of infancy, families provide all breast milk, formula, and food for their children. Sleep and eating schedules are based on the child’s individual needs and habits. We follow the home routine as closely as possible, to help bridge the gap between home and school.
