Multi-age, Vibrant Learning

DISTINCTIVE ELEMENTS

 Multi-age classrooms reflect natural development of the children

 Birth to age six is a period of an “absorbent mind”

 Children pass through “sensitive periods” when they are singularly driven to discover new skills

 The main goal of this phase of development is to help the child be in touch with a robust array of natural experiences

Montessori classrooms typically span a multi-year age range, reflecting the natural development of the children according to four planes of development. Johns Creek Montessori School specializes in working with children during their first plane of development, from birth to six years of age.

In our Montessori classrooms, the children are placed in one of three levels, depending on developmental ability, readiness and social maturity. Each of these classrooms consists of children in a multi-age grouping:

Infant: 2 months to approximately 15 months

Infant Program

Pre-Primary: 15/16 months to approximately 3 years

Pre-Primary Classroom

Primary: approximately 3 years to 6 years

Primary Classroom

Enrichment: all ages

Enrichment Program

“Growth is not merely a harmonious increase in size, but a transformation.”
